how do I decide?
I want some amalgamation of these pictures for a series of tattoos. I'm thinking upper arms & across the shoulder blades. Like a happy map of the known universe. But how shall I do it?

I think I may walk around with this look on my face 24-7
"wtf am I doing here?"
from Re-Nest's article, Are You a Radical Homemaker Failure?
My answer is no, I'm just a Regular Homemaker Failure. Ask my husband, he'll tell you.

perfect description of my life in someone else's blog post.
Room Lust: The [x] factor.
One day, it occurs to you: "My life would be vastly improved if only I had a new [x]."
You do a little research. You learn the vocabulary of [x] -- who knew bulb wattage was so controversial? You start noticing [x]s everywhere. You begin judging character based on the [x]s your friends have in their homes. At a party, you're unable to maintain eye contact with the host because you're too busy staring at their [x]. "I'm in the market for a new one," you explain, fingering the shade. "Now, is this parchment?"
Pretty soon you're gagging on [x], so obsessed and overcome with choices and information that it seems highly unlikely--about as likely as you ever cleaning your microwave--that you'll actually select an [x], feel satisfied, and move on.
The lesson, of course, is that we can't rely on material objects to make us happy, and, despite how we delude ourselves, infinite choices (and deliberation) don't help ease a decision.

prefabulous
So, my new obsession is modern prefab modular homes. Though we're in the midst of a short sale (which recently got messy due to ex-husband, etc.) I want to scrap it & build a brand new shiny home! Of course, it's not like we have a ton of money, because though prefab can be less expensive, most of the time it's not. But at the end of the day, you get a greener, space efficient, & usually extremely fabulous space instead of a tiny, ill-conceived ranch that needs a kitchen & bath overhaul & possibly some foundations that will need to eventually be addressed. These prefabs generally can sit on an environment-friendly pier foundation (depending on where you build) & most of the time are made with steel construction, so you've eliminated foundation issues, termites, mold, etc. etc. In any case--I've done a lot of research & because I only found a couple of sites that listed modern prefab firms, here's a pretty big list of generally US based modern modular firms (not in any order though).
Here's some of the best informational sites I've found:

All of these have available models for sale (I came across a lot of research & development sites that looked amazing, but nothing's ever been built). There's a large variation of what's included & what's not included in the price. Some include everything down to appliances & will come and set everything up for you & will help you with permitting etc. Some will just send you a kit with directions. [BTW, Ikea has been making prefab houses in Europe for a few years now]. The $$$ range is huge too. Modern Cabana & M-finity have tiny spaces for tiny prices. Others like Stillwater Dwellings, Blue Sky Homes & Living Homes are pretty pricey & will mail you a 3000 SF house. Many of these firms offer green & even off-the-grid options (soloar, rain water catchment, grey water systems, etc). I've come across a few zero-energy models, which leads me to ask--why the hell are we not all being asked to put these kinds of systems in our houses? Oh right. Because people get pissed when someone mentions when someone suggests white roofs or recycling. Speaking of, I just found Reclaimed Space which looks amazing--they use all recycled materials from previously demolished homes that would be heading for the dump.
